Stop, Drop & Run 5k

The beer is here!  Remember that free beer to finishers 21 and over?  Well, we are proud to say that it is here!  We will have as options for the runners Woodchuck Summer Cider, Magic Hat Belgo Sutra (A strong, dark ale brewed with figs, dates, and dark candi syrup), Miller Lite, and Yuengling available for runners.  If you would like to purchase another beer after finishing your complimentary beer the Miller Lite and Yuengling will only be $2, and the Woodchuck and Magic Hat will be $3.

It isn’t too late to register…online registration is open until midnight.  If you are reading this after midnight, do not fret, we do offer race day registration as well.

This is it folks…the final countdown!  Online registration closes tonight at midnight!!!  If you happen to miss the deadline you can still register on-site tomorrow before either the Standard 5K and the Obstacle Course heat.  Why add the extra stress of having to do that though.  You can park your car, walk up to the check-in table, and your runner bag and bib will be sitting there ready for you.  Sounds like the optimal plan to us.

If this is the first time you are hearing about the Stop, Drop & Run 5K here is some quick info to get you up to speed.

Features a standard 5K Walk/Run along with a Firefighter Themed Obstacle Course featuring 23 obstacles

Don’t forget that we added something new this year. For our 5th anniversary we felt that we needed to add something that was new and exciting. As we looked around at other races, especially the obstacle races, we noticed one great idea that we could implement into the Stop, Drop & Run….that’s right….beer. Starting this year all finishers (who are over the age of 21 of course) will be given a free beer after finishing the race. Whether you are running, walking, or battling your way through the obstacle course there will be an ice cold beer waiting for you as you cross the finish line. Right now we are working with local breweries to be able to provide you a local craft beer and we will update you once we find out what exactly will be on tap. If one beer just won’t quench your thirst…don’t worry you will be able to purchase another one.

So let’s recap. If you are participating in the standard 5k you will receive not only this year’s awesome shirt, but also an ice cold beer as well. Battling your way through the obstacle course? Then you will be getting not only a race shirt and that delicious beer, but also a finisher’s medal as well.

The shirts for this year’s race are officially in!  Hope you are just as excited for them as we are.  If you haven’t registered, what are you waiting for?  You have until Friday at midnight to register online else you will have to wait until Saturday morning to register at the race.  Speaking of Saturday, have you looked at the weather?

One of the three new obstacles this year is the lilypad dash.  While it may look like a piece of cake obstacle, trust me, looks can be deceiving.  Attached above from just a central point when you step onto the pads it truly becomes a feat of balance.  Couple that with that fact that you need to walk across all six steps without falling off, this new obstacle is going to take some serious balance skills to complete.  As a reminder, this year’s Stop, Drop & Run Obstacle Race features 23 obstacles.

Hard to believe we are under a week until race day!  Register by midnight tonight to be guaranteed a shirt on race day.  Don’t worry, if you wait to register and we happen to run out of shirts we will place another order to have shirts ready for pickup on a future date.  But why risk it?  Sign up today and support your volunteer firefighters.

Were you looking for an earlier time to run in the Obstacle Course race, but they were sold out?  We just opened up more spots in each of the waves.  Head on over to the registration page today and register.

The Stop, Drop & Run is fast approaching and with that so are some important deadlines for the race.  First up, if you want to be guaranteed a shirt for the race you will need to register before Sunday at 11:59 p.m.  That’s right, you have until the end of the weekend to get your registration in and you will be guaranteed to burn some calories and walk home with this year’s sweet shirt.  Even if you don’t heed our advice and wait until after then to register, don’t worry, we order extra shirts to cover those people who register late.  Even if you don’t get a shirt on race day we will order more shirts and have them available at the fire department for pickup at a later date.

After Sunday, well, it is just a matter of days until the race.  Online registration will then close on Friday at 11:59 pm. the day before the race.
