Stop, Drop & Run 5k

The Stop, Drop & Run 5k is fast approaching on October 14th and we hope that you will join us for this year’s race on October 14th.  We would like to see a large presence of our fellow first responders at this year’s race.  So whether you are a firefighter, police officer, EMT, or a member of the military, we are offering a buy one, get one free special from today until Sunday (October 8th) at midnight.  Whether you want to register with a fellow first responder or with your family, this special is for you.

Instructions to Redeem Buy One, Get One Special:

1.) Register other registrant first if they are not a first responder
2.) Be sure to select “First Responder” on your second registration and enter your entity’s name.  The First Responder must be the second registration in order for the promotion to work.
3.) Enter Coupon Code “FirstResponder” on the First Responder’s registration.
4.) You will see the price of that registration drop to $0.

As a reminder, the Stop, Drop & Run 5k features a standard 5k run/walk along with the option of a firefighter themed obstacle course featuring 23 obstacles.  You can check the obstacles out here.

We are just over three weeks away from the Stop, Drop & Run 5k and with that in mind we are now able to release the final obstacle route course maps.  This year we are adding 3 new type of obstacles and will have a total of 23 obstacles for participants.  We are going to give you some details on the three new this year here, but please check out the full obstacle course list here.

Weight Pull – In this obstacle you can either pull the weights with the string via a hand over hand method or drag it with the shorter rope.  You will start at one end of the obstacle, drag it to the other end, and then pull it back to the starting point.

Box Jump – Get ready to get those feet up and off the ground.  You will be jumping from one side of the box onto the top and then down onto the other side.  Jump back up and across.  Now repeat this 10 times.

Lilypad Dash – Similar to jungle gyms that you may have played on in elementary school, the Lilypad dash will test not only your balance, but your strength too.  Step onto the suspended pad and hang onto the rope as you cross your way to the next.  Don’t fall off or it’s back to the start that you go.

Remember, if obstacle courses aren’t your thing, we also have a standard 5k walk/run that you can support your volunteer firefighters in by registering.

For our 5th anniversary we felt that we needed to add something that was new and exciting. As we looked around at other races, especially the obstacle races, we noticed one great idea that we could implement into the Stop, Drop & Run….that’s right….beer. Starting this year all finishers (who are over the age of 21 of course) will be given a free beer after finishing the race. Whether you are running, walking, or battling your way through the obstacle course there will be an ice cold beer waiting for you as you cross the finish line. Right now we are working with local breweries to be able to provide you a local craft beer and we will update you once we find out what exactly will be on tap. If one beer just won’t quench your thirst…don’t worry you will be able to purchase another one.

So let’s recap. If you are participating in the standard 5k you will receive not only this year’s awesome shirt, but also an ice cold beer as well. Battling your way through the obstacle course? Then you will be getting not only a race shirt and that delicious beer, but also a finisher’s medal as well.

Register before October 1st and the regular 5k participants will only pay $20 and the obstacle course registration will only be $30. Talk about a great deal!
