The Stop, Drop & Run 5K is not possible without the team of volunteers that we get. As the race has grown in size so has the number of volunteers that we need. Volunteers handle everything from race registration, runner check in, to overseeing obstacles. If you are interested in volunteering for this year’s race, you can sign up here.
What do volunteers do?
Volunteers are what enable the Monaca Fire Department to have a successful race each and every year. Volunteers in the past have had the following responsibilities: Racer Registration, Participant Check-in, Bag Check, Finish Line Assistance, Traffic Control, and Obstacle attendant. When you register to volunteer we try to match you with your preference.
What are the perks of being a volunteer?
Outside of helping your volunteer firefighters, all volunteers for the Stop, Drop & Run 5k will receive a volunteer shirt.
When do I volunteer?
Race day volunteering begins at approximately 7 a.m. and continues until noon. If you would like to continue assisting after that, we could always use the help in dismantling and transporting the obstacles back to the fire station.
What if I am not available on Saturday?
The Thursday and Friday preceding the race involves a flurry of activities to prepare for the race. If you are available on Thursday or Friday at all we would gladly accept any help you could offer.
Where do I volunteer?
Volunteers will report to Monaca #4 Volunteer Fire Deparment at 913 Taylor Ave, Monaca, PA on race day. From there volunteers will be assigned and transported to their respective locations.
Who do I talk to if I have more questions?
Feel free to reach out to Race Director Chris Shotter at chris.shotter@monacafire.com if you have any additional questions.
