Is this open to the public or just firefighters?
This event is absolutely opened to the general public. The more runners that register for the race the more successful this fundraiser will be.
Is there a discount for first responders?
We are extending a 20% discount for all first responders (Firefighters, Police & EMT’s). When registering select the First Responder option and enter your department.
How difficult is the standard course?
The course takes place on the heights of Monaca. It includes various ascents and descents on that route. Based upon MapMyRun calculations, it appears that the height difference is about 100 feet.
How difficult is the obstacle course?
The obstacle course can be as difficult or as easy as you want it to be. There are presently approximately 20 obstacles along the course. If you feel you are unable to complete an obstacle you can do burpees in place of it.
Do I have to run with a team?
The Stop, Drop & Run Obstacle Course challenge is open to those who want to compete individually or as a team. We added the team option this year as something new to bring a friendly competitive level to the race. Whether you are running by yourself, with a couple friends, or with your whole department the race has been designed with you in mind.

When does registration begin and end?
Registration for the 2018 Stop, Drop and Run 5k is now open. You may register online until October 12, 2018 and by paper until October 11, 2018. All other registration can occur the morning of the race.
When can I pick up my race materials?
All race materials can be picked up the morning of the race starting at 7:30 a.m. at Station 57 (the starting line) at 913 Taylor Ave, Monaca, PA 15061.
Is there a minimum age to run?
No. We ask that younger runners are supervised on the course by a parent or guardian, for their safety and those running around them.
Can my children participate with me?
We are proud to offer the Stop, Drop & Run as a family friendly event with no minimum ages for both the Standard 5K and the Obstacle course. For those participating in the standard 5K this means that you can also run with your strollers. For the Obstacle Course we have the obstacles such that there is a different level of difficulty for children and adults so you can compete side by side. Reminder, all children under the age of 12 will be presented with a medal whether they are competing in the standard 5K or the obstacle course. Hope to see you and your family on race day.
Will water be provided along the course?
Yes, there will be two water stations along the route. One will be in the Central Valley Middle School parking lot and the other will take place at the Monaca Youth Baseball Field.
Is parking available?
The fire department is located in a residential area, as such there is parking available on the street throughout the community.
What are the age divisions?
Age groups are as follows 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and up
What prizes will be awarded?
A trophy will be presented to the first place men’s and women’s finisher, medals will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in each division.
Children 12 and under will be presented a medal.
All participants in the obstacle course will receive a medal.
Participants 21 years of age and older will be given one free beer at the conclusion of the race as well.
Is there a cash prize?
The overall 1st place male and female for the standard 5k will both be awarded $100.
Is this race timed?
Registered runners in the standard 5k and all obstacle course participants will be timed in this year’s race. Walkers will not be timed.
Is this race photographed?
There will be photographers along the course. They have not been selected at this time.
Can we compete as a team?
Groups of 4 or more can compete as a team in the obstacle challenge. The average of the top 4 times of your team will be used for ranking purposes. More information can be found at the team competition page.
Did you say free beer?
Yup, you heard us right…free beer to all finishers of the Stop, Drop & Run 5k who are 21 years of age and older. Please be sure to bring your photo identification with you as you will need it in order to be served. Right now we are working with local breweries to try and be able to serve your a local draft. One beer not going to quench your thirst? Additional beer will be for sale during race day as well!
