Stop, Drop & Run 5k, 1 Mile Fun Walk &  Firefighter Themed Obstacle Course

Whether you prefer to run/walk in a standard 5k or battle your way through an obstacle course, this race has something for you in it.  While you are used to hearing about races that “donation a portion of proceeds” to a non-profit we are proud to say that the Stop, Drop & Run is fully organized by the Monaca Fire Department, and as such, every dollar that we make off of this race comes back directly to supporting our volunteer fire department.  With your registration, you are helping us pay for the growing costs of equipment and training to continue to keep our community safe.  Additionally, we are proud to say that we are a family/pet friendly event so be sure to bring out the entire family to participate this year.   

All participants will be awarded what many have called the best race shirts they have ever received.  If you are 21 or older there will be a cold refreshing beer waiting for you as you cross the finish line. All participants of the obstacle course will also be presented a medal as they cross the finish line as well.

We are proud to feature over 20 different obstacles each year that play off the theme of the day in the life of a firefighter.  Some of the runner’s favorites from the past include the car fire, smoke maze, blitz fire soak, and slip & slide.  Head over to the obstacles page to get a better idea of the obstacles that we usually have.  If obstacles aren’t your thing, don’t worry just sign up for the standard 5k walk/run.

We are extending a 20% discount for all first responders (Firefighters, Police & EMT’s).  When registering select the First Responder option and enter your department.

Grab at least four of your closet friends (2 Male and 2 Female) to compete in this year’s team competition to take home the traveling trophy.  If you want to have a larger team, the fastest two male and female times will be used to determine your ranking.  There will be a trophy presented for the fastest Civilian and First Responder/Military team.

The Stop, Drop & Run Obstacle Course challenge is open to those who want to compete individually or as a team.  We added the team option this year as something new to bring a friendly competitive level to the race.  Whether you are running by yourself, with a couple friends, or with your whole department the race has been designed with you in mind.

We are proud to offer the Stop, Drop & Run as a family friendly event for both the Standard 5K and the Obstacle course.  For those participating in the standard 5K this means that you can also run with your strollers.  For the Obstacle Course we have the obstacles such that there is a different level of difficulty for children and adults so you can compete side by side.  Reminder, all children under the age of 12 will be presented with a medal whether they are competing in the standard 5K or the obstacle course.  Hope to see you and your family on race day.

Packet pickup can be completed beginning at 7:00 a.m. on race day at the fire department.

We know you may be used to having to pay for parking at other races, but that isn’t the case here.  There is ample street parking in the areas sorrounding the fire department.  Find a spot and head on over to the fire department to check-in

Obstacle waves will begin at 9:30 and proceed every 10 minutes thereafter.  Please make sure that you are running at the wave time that you signed up for when you registered so that the obstacles do not become overwhelmed.
